COAP
COAP was organized in 1998. It
came as the result of the vision of church member Jerry Howell. Jerry grew up
in Mount Holly and as a child and youth had fond memories of youth activities
on the Church ball field. The ball field, originally constructed in the 60’s,
was in a state of disrepair. Jerry’s experience with the ball field and love
for Mount Holly Church led to a calling. Jerry’s calling was to rebuild and
revitalize the ball field so new generations of Mount Holly youth could
experience it as he did. Jerry took his calling to the Church Administrative
Council and the rest is history. The Christian Outdoor Activity Project or
COAP was formed to guide the project. In a wave of enthusiasm, COAP, led by
Jerry and his father Don, saw Jerry’s calling become reality. Today, the
Mount Holly Church maintains a wonderful ball field, walking trail and
memorial garden with plans for future additions. The facilities are used by
many in the Mount Holly Community. People of all ages use the trail as a
convenient and beautiful opportunity to exercise. The ball field is used by
ball teams, scouts and families in the community.
Although, the ball field project
was completed, COAP had too much momentum to quit. COAP has now expanded
it’s focus into support of all church activities. The “Christian Outdoor
Activity Project” is now “Christians On Another Project”..
We are now working at Winthrop
sport facilities to earn our money for the different projects we undertake.
COAP is a big supporter of the Annual Christian Sportshooters Classic. In
short, COAP is always there for the Church.
The mission of COAP is to help
people attain the desire to serve the Lord by working together to raise money
for special projects in the Church
All Church members who would like
to support COAP are welcome to join us for our meetings at 6:00 p.m. on the
third Tuesday of every month.
